Safety Week
Last week, the pupils and staff learnt all about staying safe inside and outside of school. We had visits from professionals who help keep us safe: the police, the fire brigade, the school nurse.
Key Stage 1 booed and hissed their way through our road safety pantomime whereas Year 4/ CE2 ventured out onto the streets with the Hammersmith and Fulham Road Safety Officer to learn all about staying safe whilst walking to school alone, ready for September.
A visit from the team at Prevent helped upper Key Stage 2 learn about staying safe from radicalisation and modern day slavery. We don't believe in shying away from these difficult topics rather letting the children explore them in the boundaries of a safe learning environment.
All of our pupils learnt how to stay safe online after having a visit from BigFoot. A lighthearted assembly followed by class workshops helped the children understand the importance of privacy settings and passwords, what to do when they spot something suspicious online and how to tackle cyber bullying. Parents demonstrated they were life long learners too, by attending our NSPCC e- safety parent workshop last week.
